...really intrigues me is this idea...and I heard it many, many years ago am not even sure of the original source where I heard it but it goes like this “when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
Albert Einstein once observed that er you have most fundamental and major decision that you have to make in your life is this “do I live in a friendly or a hostile universe?” which is it? Is it a universe that is filled with hostility and anger and people wanting to hate each other and people wanting to kill each other- is that what you see? Because when you see the world that way, that is exactly what you will create for yourself in your life. This is from great scientific minds
And the interesting thing is that this is not just a clever play on words- that when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at, change. It is actually a very scientific thing and I am going to show you that in just a moment.
I’d like to imagine the following scene. You are in your house. You’ve got your car keys in your hand. The lights go out. Power failure. You cannot see a thing. You stumble around in your living room and you drop your keys. And you look around for a moment and you realize you are not going to find them in the dark. But you look outside and you notice that the street lights are on.  So, in your mind, a light bulb goes up, hum, am not going to sit here in the dark groping around looking for my keys when there is lights on outside am going to go out here under the street light and am going to look for my keys!
(Audience laugh) why are you laughing this makes a lot of sense.
So you are out here and you are groping around and you are looking for your keys and you are looking and looking and your neighbor comes along and says what happىed Wayne well I dropped my keys – well I’ll help you look for them. And the two of now are down here looking for our keys and finally he says to me excuse me but where did you drop your keys “well, um, I dropped them in the house” he said you mean to tell me that you dropped your keys in the house and you are looking for them out here in the street; that does not make any sense and said does not make any sense to grope around in the dark when there is light out here; now you laugh and think how silly that is but is not that exactly what we do when we have a problem, a difficulty, a struggle that is located inside and we are looking for the solution, outside. Some place outside ourselves.
It would be like going to the doctor and telling him all of your symptoms and the doctor say of boy you gotta a lot of symptoms and he starts to write a lot of prescriptions, you need a prescription of this symptom, you need a prescription for that symptom and finally he gets these four or five- and you go to walk out and you say I’d like my prescription and he says no no I’ll give this one to your mother in law and I’ll give this one to your neighbour and I’ll give this one to your daughter and I’ll give this one to your father
I mean you are the one with the struggles with the difficulties and giving- expecting someone else to change or something outside of you to get better in order for you to make your life work at this level I am calling intention is something you really have to take a hard look at. It is in here

pre- sent
pre- sent

sub- ject
sub- ject

Wayne Dyer - The Power of Intention

Thank you, thank you thank you, wow wow what a beautiful place so nice to be here Majestic Theater in Boston the subject of this special
That I would like to present to the world is called the power of intention
The word intention usually when we use this word it has a sort of a connotation
Meaning no body is gonna get in the way
I intend for something o happen am gonna make this work no matter what
Regardless of whatever opposition I encounter
I intend to make it happen it’s like being a pit bull who has got a hold of a tire
You've ever seen that?
And they are not just gonna let go
Am gonna have this pit bull attitude that am gonna make something happen
That's what intention is
I would like to offer here to you something that may change you look at things completely in terms of this idea of intention
Rather than thinking of intention as something that you are going to do
Because the implication behind that is this is the ego
This is the ego at work
And the part of me that says I am going to make it happen
I’ve come to a place in my life now at the age of 63
Where I finally realize that I don’t write the books
That there is an energy that is working through me
Whether you call it god or source or spirit
Does not make a difference what you call it
But this energy that is working builds all the bridges, and writes all the books
And delivers all the speeches
When i was standing back there waiting for the introduction to come out and to begin the program
The words were running through my mind from something I read years ago on a course on miracles
If you knew who walked beside you at all times on this path you have chosen you could never experience fear or doubt again
If you had this knowing that there was a source that there was something that was available to you that is responsible for it
And in the writing of the power of intention I remember sitting to start this book on a specific day
Happened to have been Pearl Harbour day Dec 7th
And I sat down and I put my left hand on the table
And I just surrendered and I let go allowed the words to flow from my heart and onto the page
And I don’t write with a computer I don’t have one I can’t afford it
I have 8 children and they all need one for some reason
And I don have you know all of fancy kind of –
I don’t even have a typewriter
I just allow the words to come through me and onto the page
And as I was sitting there allowing this to happen
I began to realize that there was something greater going on here
And as the days went by and as I wrote each day getting up early in the morning
I did this years and years ago when I first erm when I first started speaking
I used to speak with notes and have everything all very carefully written out
And so on
And came a time when I could no longer do that
I just had to speak from my heart which is exactly what I am doing it here with you today in this program
When you surrender to this when you begin to allow this
Force in the universe to work through you
You begin to realize that everything that shows up here in this world
Shows up from a source, from a place from an energy, from a field whatever you wanna call it
And that we and these sort of our piddling little egos of ours
That believe we are so important
Whether I got it right or whether I got it come on time or whether he does it or whether she does it or all of these details become almost something that occupy too much of the-
Of the energy of our lives
And we you learn to surrender and to let go and realize that
Intention is not necessarily something that I do
But something that I connect to
And I’d like to share with you here at the opening a couple of observations
A couple of quotes that I came across
As I was preparing to write this book
The first of these quotes is from a person who has very powerful and important influence in my life
His name is Carlos Castaneda
In Castaneda in his particularly – in his later books in his book the fire from within and the power of silence and the active side of infinity
He spoke of intention not as something we do
But as something that we connect to
I included this particular observation by Castaneda
In the writing of the power of intention because it was this particular
Quote that really inspired me to write this book and to produce this program and to be with you here today
And as like everything in my life I almost feel as if I am no longer the one in charge I don’t even know how it was handed to me
Somebody just-
And when I read the words eh I had them laminated and I wrote them out and I carried them around with me and ultimately I knew I was going to write a book about them
About this idea I was going to produce a program about it
And here is what the quote says:
“in the universe, there is an immeasurable indescribable force which those who live of the source in quotes of the source and of the source means sorcerer now that sorcerer in the word when we think of sorcerer we think of witches and incantations and all kinds of hocus-pocus and so on that’s not what the word sorcerer means; it means of the source: those who live of the source
In the universe there is an immeasurable and indescribable force which those who live of the source call: intention and that absolutely everything that exists in the cosmos is attached to an intent by a connecting link and then he goes on to say: sorcerer are not only concerned with understanding and explaining that connecting link but they are especially concerned with cleansing it of the numbing effects brought about by all concerns of living at the ordinary levels of consciousness”
Very important and powerful words to consider, think of it like this that everything in this universe was intended here including you, including every mosquito and every palm tree and every avocado and all of the rocky mountains and the oceans that everything that shows up in the material world emanates from a source and this source can be thought of as that which intends things into the material world
And the question here today is not whether or not you are going to be connected to it because you could not be-
You could not be listening to this program , you could not be processing what I am saying here if you were not connected to this field
This field beats your heart; this- this field of energy grows your fingernail and grows everybody else’s fingernails
I used to say it grows your hair but I've come a little suspicious of that you know
But this- it animates all life. Now this is one observation that intention is what I’d like you to think of when I think of the power of intention;
Intention isn't about whether you are going to connect to it; you are already connected to it
The question is how rusty how corroded how dirty is the link between you and this field of intention
And sorcerers are those who are concerned with cleansing this connecting link so that you become more and more in rapport with or in harmony with this field of intention.

And the more you are in harmony with this field of intention, the more you are able to do all that this field of intention is able to do; you are able to create miracles; you are able to heal yourself; you are able to attract to your life the abundance that has been missing; you are able to find the right people and have them show up exactly on time because that is how the universal source from which all things and all people originated; that’s how it works.

And what we are going to be doing here in this program is looking at how to get that link back to intention and not only be connected to it but to always be ready to keep that link clean, uncorroded.

Islamic Spain: When the Moors ruled in Europe. Mezquita, Cordoba

Abdullrahman brought culture and learning from the center of the Islamic world straight to the heart of Al Andalus. When Abdullrahman arrived in Spain he came here to Cordoba; the city was in complete disarray
That Roman bridge had collapsed into the river
And Abdullrahman had set to rebuild the city
You have to remember that in this context the Arabs arrived, not as brooding destroyers but sometimes as saviors
Abdullrahan brought cutting edge technology for irrigation to Spain. Almost immediately the landscape was transformed Palm trees, lemon and orange groves. Avocados, artichokes and pomegranate none of which had been seen in Europe
Because of Abdullraham sophisticated trade network this new agriculture created a huge wealth
And those riches were used to build one of the greatest cities of the world
Well the inhabitants of London were still living in wooden houses
The people of Cordoba had built a cosmopolitan city with a population of over than 100,000
The largest settlement in Europe
Reports from European visitors to Cordoba describe a city with 70 libraries and over 300 public baths
The accounts tell of houses with running water and roads illuminated by street lights
You often have to take medieval sources with a substantial pinch of salt because Chronicles were extremely fond of exaggeration
But in fact the new excavation here in Cordoba are actually revealing a city that was just as rich as the city they described
These monumental walls belonged to a Muslim aristocrat, and this channel here is part of the water system that brought Cordoba its famously effective sewage works as well as the fountains and the baths that impressed all those European visitors
Cordoba was described by a 10th century German visitor as the ornament of the world
One of the reasons it's been so difficult to investigate Islamic Cordoba is that the city has been built on itself like a kind of  layer cake
But here the archaeologist have taken the modem level to reveal the Islamic layer there and down at the bottom the Roman mosaic
Abdullraham built Cordoba on top of what had been one the largest cities in Roman Spain outshining all that went before
And his greatest achievements was this, the great Mosque of Cordoba
With the floor space the size of 4 football pitches, this is the largest mosque in the Western Islam
The forest of 600 columns disappear in the distance creating a mesmeric infinity effect
On the columns arches balance one on top of the other, its shell shaped pernich has extraordinary acoustic making any word spoken inside audible to the entire congregation
When the Mosque was first built these archways would be open to allow people to stream  in and out
and this courtyard was a central part of the complex
people would come here and ..and purify themselves for their worships or just to gossip and do business
Abdullrahman's original Mosque was only a fraction of the size of the building that stands today
Over a period of two hundred years rulers would extend the mosque three times
It has been suggested that the Mosque was enlarged because each new ruler wanted to stamp his authority over the building
But there is also a more straight forward explanation; the Cordoba mosque had to accommodate the burdening number of worshipers
The Muslim population of Spain was growing fast
Modern Spain has been reluctant to acknowledge that its indigenous population converted to Islam in droves
Standard history book present the Muslim occupation of Spain as something superficial
Just a surface colonization by an Arab elite, not a presence that had any kind of lasting impact on the bulk of the population
The archaeological evidence is turning that idea on its head
All over Spain cities like Cordoba were established, even madrid was founded by Muslims
The original Arab walls still stand behind the royal palace
How fad did the Muslim community spread through Spain
Muslim remains dating from the time of Alandalus almost everywhere
not only in the south of Spain but also other parts of Spain
There are emerging lots of sites, fortresses, villages and cities almost everywhere
People were Arabized losing the form of Latin they were speaking and they were Islamized in the sense they dropped Christianity and converted to Islam in massive numbers really
were they forced conversions or was the idea of Islam particularly attractive
It is always difficult to say why someone converts to another religion but I think there is no evidence there is any forced conversion at all
In a way the Islamization and the Arabaization of territories like Alandalus is very similar to what happened to the Roman Empire when the people wanted to convert to the values and to the cultural values and to the religious values of and to the way of living of what seemed to be a civilization which has  a lot of advantages
I think it is very easy to forget that in this moment of time Islam is culture of innovation isn't it
you said it was drawing in  ideas from the east

I am gonna use this new research to explore what happened when east met west in Europe
If there is one place that challenges the stereotype of the treacherous bloodthirsty Moor
It's here the Alhambra Palace in Granada
Alhambra is one of the most complete medieval Islamic palaces in the whole world
It was built by the Muslim kings of Granada in the 14th century at the height of their power
Its name means the Red One because the surrounding dark soil has given its stone an earthy reddish hue
***
The marvel of the Alhambra is its mystery, not a single account of life here survives
All its archives were incinerated in the fires of the inquisition
but the Catholics could not bring themselves to destroy this place
Alhambra is one of the wonders of the Medieval world
And by preserving it, they have kept a box of secrets that we can use to decode the civilization that built it
***
Inside the palace walls, the architecture is breathtaking
although the aesthetic of this courtyard is quiet cool and minimal now; in its hay day, it would've been a riot of color
Granada was famous for producing silk and you'd have silk hangings blowing in the breeze
and silk cushions and silk rugs where people laid out to eat their dinner and listen to music
In fact, it's only when one gets down to rug level that you appreciate one of the bits of magic of the place
because from down here this pool acts like an infinity mirror
and the whole of the palace looks like as if it's suspended in water

0:18

the world is the way it is

try not to bash into the walls too much

try to have a nice family life

save little money

....but life-- that's a very limited life

0:42 and that is ...

so the thing I would say is...when you grow you tend to get told that the world is the way it is; and you're

your life is just to live yourlife inside the world and try not to bash into the walls too much

try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money

but life --thats a very limited life; life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact

and that is everything around you that you'd call life was made up by people who are no smarter than you

and you can change it, you can influence it you can- you can build your own things that other people can use

and the minute that you understand that you can poke life and actually something will-- you know, if you push in and something will pop out the other side that you can- you can change it- you can mold it

uhm, that's maybe the most important thing

.is to shake off this-  erm this er erroneous notion that life is -- is there and you just gonna live in it vs embrace it, change it, improve it

make your mark upon it

I - I think that's very important and however you learn that, once you learn it, you wanna change life and make it better coz it's kind of messed up in a lot of ways

once you learn that, you will never be the same again

Steve Jobs: Secrets of Life
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYfNvmF0Bqw
you tentu
